BOJATI Report Easter 2024

Dear BOJATI helpers!

Message for the Easter report (April 12, 2024)

I would be happy to send you the Easter or Spring Report from Lenox. He reports with heart and mind and I have nothing to add to his words. He describes the situation and the need for our help with heart and humility. Many thanks to everyone who makes all this possible with your donations!

BOJATI is a mini-project and unfortunately without growth. Therefore, I ask you to share this report with your friends and acquaintances, so that we may be able to find more donors in this way. Every donor will be added to the mailing list of the BOJATI trimester reports from Kenya and can participate in the development of the supported children. A short email to me is enough. This also applies to a direct contact with Lenox, which would certainly make him happy.

We have a new homepage! My brother-in-law Thomas did a great job and the result is great! For data protection reasons, the BOJATI reports will be available in a protected member area in the future. I will inform you when the time comes. www.bojati.org My heartfelt thanks go to Thomas, who volunteers for BOJATI, great work!

Now another piece of information on my own behalf: I have tried to get a tax exemption for our association from the Lucerne tax office. We have changed the statutes of our association in such a way that in the event of the dissolution of the association, the association’s assets are transferred to a recognized, tax-exempt aid organization and distribution among members is excluded. We have submitted detailed statements of the school fees per year and extra costs for the children. We have submitted our account books since the foundation of the association, which shows that every franc donated is invested in the welfare of the BOJATI children. Apart from a modest share of expenses for Lenox for internet and transport, we do not pay any wage costs.

Unfortunately, we were not able to meet the required detailed list of the expenses of the last 6 years. We do have receipts for school fees, meal programs etc. but all the expenses for transportation, school uniforms, school supplies, toiletries, shoes, clothes, mosquito nets, mattresses, blankets etc. etc. etc. are not documented, as they are usually bought cheaply at the local market and much of it is second hand.

This is Kenya, where you don’t buy in the expensive shopping malls if you can’t afford it. We could not meet the hurdles of the Lucerne tax office and were coldly rejected. That’s why we still can’t offer you a tax receipt for your donations, which I regret very much and actually don’t understand.

But that’s the way it is. If, contrary to expectations, we grow so strongly, we may be able to buy in shopping malls in the future only against a receipt and hire an accountant to document this neatly… (end of sarcasm).

I have translated the report from Lenox into the German language with Google Translate and attached it. As always, the translation is a bit bumpy but understandable. I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart and thank you very much for your generous support and the goodwill shown to you and if each of us can motivate just one more helper, then we will be able to make an Easter camp possible for the children next year again.

Best regards,
